Over 3 million people a year eat, cry, stomp, and spill beer on the stands at Fenway Park. Combine that with the pressure of matching the historic Fenway Park green and a tight between-season deadline, and a duplex system utilizing hot-dip galvanized steel was the best way to fulfill these needs.
Hot-dip galvanizing has been used for all refurbishment projects at Fenway Park, so the choice for corrosion protection was easy to make. The biggest challenge with this project was dipping extra large pieces of steel and then perfectly matching the paint colors to create an effective and appealing duplex system. Red Sox fans will not be disappointed with the 2010 baseball season and may look forward to even more galvanized updates. The owner was so impressed with the galvanized steel elements, they have already specified the system for another project after the 2010 season has wrapped. Hot-dip galvanized steel will keep this stadium safe and corrosion-free for many seasons to come.
