Hot-dip galvanizing was specified for this project due to the exposed position of the site of the structure. The CN Tower is a communication and observation tower in downtown Toronto, Ontario standing 553.33 meters (1815.4 ft) high.
EdgeWalk is the newest and most extreme attraction in the Tower's 35-year history, recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's highest external walk on a building, located at 356 m (1,167.97 ft) above the ground. Participants experience a "hands-free", harness-secured "edgewalk" along a 150 m long (492 ft) ledge just 1.5 m (5 ft) wide. The use of galvanized steel was chosen for its robust nature, and excellent durability as well as its aesthetic appearance. The protective qualities of galvanizing will prolong the lifespan of the walkway and to give it a reassuringly solid appearance.
