For technical reasons, the location of this communication tower was critical. The owner of the car dealership directly in front of the tower needed some convincing, so the fabricator designed an aesthetically- pleasing - yet functional - tower. The design had to be attractive, yet structurally sound.
A design of three massive pipes, each supporting three-legged solid rod elements, was utilized to provide structural stability and an aesthetically appealing form. All structural components of the tower, including the cellular portion of the tower were hot-dip galvanizing, totaling about 100 tons (91 tonnes) of steel. Once agreeing on a tower design to complement the property that would also match the color of the adjoining building, all parties had a landmark that would incorporate all functional aspects necessary and also draw attention to the business. A three-sided design was created so that the tower could be seen from all directions. The need to match the color of the building and the need to be maintenance-free made the use of a duplex coating the natural choice.
