While the "blades of grass" that support the cranes are composed of stainless steel, we chose to utilize hot-dip galvanized steel for the base modules of the sculpture support. A galvanized steel base was significantly less expensive than a stainless steel base, while still providing high durability and corrosion protection, important given the fact that the sculpture base will be installed in exterior conditions, near the ground.
