Though the material for these signs in Hilliard were not originally specified to be galvanized, a trip showing various uses of hot-dip galvanizing convinced the architect to switch to galvanizing. All tubes, posts, rolls, and signs for these structures were hot-dip galvanized and powder coated. As with most projects for city or state departments of transportation, turnaround time was of the utmost importance and galvanizing and powder coating can be done in half the time as a blast and 3-coat paint system. The cut-out letters on overheads and bridges have garnered a lot of attention and smaller, rural areas are catching onto this trend as well.
