The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs is a vital part of improving the health of all the men and women who have proudly served our nation. Located on the north side of the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center stands a newly constructed parking garage. The choice to add a safety fence around the top two was something that came as an additional feature to help prevent Veteran Suicide.
The pride that all parties involved took with this project and honoring the core values of the VA, Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence are proud to uphold.
22 Veterans a day succumb to suicide on American soil. Being able to provide a small part in helping to prevent Veteran suicide by adding the safety fence is the overall goal of improving health for all of our courageous veteran men and women. As the VA had conversations to help prevent this statistic, they went with the galvanized coating to ensure long-lasting low maintenance and cost-effectiveness.
With 365 day use of the Chalmers P. Wylie Ambulatory Care Center Parking Garage, the galvanized steel provides the longevity and maintenance-free protective coating to ensure that employees and U.S. Veterans with their families have the parking access that is needed. Hot Dip Galvanizing provided a low-cost, durability that the maintenance staff will not need to worry about in the Ohio weather. The idea of hot-dip galvanizing being 100% recyclable was a bonus when it comes to the VA.
