Having constructed many solar car ports, Marina Energy was well aware of the benefits of hot-dip galvanizing (HDG). With a tight schedule begining at the end of the school year in late June 2013, the project had to be erected before the begining of the new school year in September 2013. An estimated 285 tons of steel needed to be fabricated and galvanized in a very short time. Conventional solar racking systems had to be substituted with galavnized purlins to keep up with the fast paced schedule. The steel fabricator worked closly with the galvanizer to establish a flow of materials to the job site without interuption. The fast application of the hot-dip galvanized zinc coating allowed all parties involved to maintain the schedule needed for the opening of the new school year.
