The City of Bossier opted for the use of hot-dip galvanizing for a few reasons. Most importantly, the climate of northwest Louisiana has an average humidity range of well over 70% for most of the year. Corrosion protection was the number one concern. The city needed a product that would stand up to the harsh weather and climate that Louisiana offers for decades to come. Cosmetic appearance was also a large factor.

The pedestrian bridge spans over a large four lane highway, adjoining what will be a park in the near future and a bike and jogging path that runs adjacent to the Red River. A sustainable, consistent visual appearance with little to no maintenance over the life of the project was crucial for this project.
