Anthony Lift Gates is a leader in the end gate loader manufacturing, more widely known as lift gates. Anthony Lift Gates came from humble beginnings. In 1918 founder William C Anthony created Anthony company incorporated. While working at the lumber yard, William has the idea for a dump bed to be mounted on Ford Model T’s. Early production units are hand made, but demand grew quickly.
To expand production Anthony Company is incorporated and production is moved to a larger facility across town. In 1919 A larger contract is awarded with Ford Motor company and truck bed bodies are shipped to Dearborn Michigan to be fitted on Model T's. In 1926 after a meeting with Henry Ford produces a demand for production prints, Anthony and Ford part ways. Anthony then turns to selling through distributors which launches the company's biggest growth.

In the years after, the company leads the way developing hydraulic systems of all kinds used to transport cargo, becoming a weighty player in the transportation equipment industry. By 1939 The end Gat loader is conceived. Local Ford dealership service manager Frank Novotney brings his idea for a truck lift to plant manager Lawrence Walker. With Anthony’s help, the idea becomes a working machine that could be affixed to rear of any make truck.
Anthony markets the new loader under the trademark “lift gate” which eventually becomes widely recognized as a term for truck loaders. in 1955 William Anthony retires and the business is sold with over 150 joint and individual patents to his name Williams Success story stands as a testament to what can become of creativity and hard work. In 1979 Patrick walker, son of the former plant manager Lawrence Walker, purchases the Anthony Lift gate line. With a skilled workforce of over 100 employees and the latest in manufacturing technology, Anthony liftgates are proudly built in the USA.
The bulk lift gate line is Hot-dip galvanized. This is critical to the quality and longevity of their product. Producing around 7,500 total units in lift gates annually Anthony Lift Gates continues to be a leader in the industry. Anthony has worked hand in hand with the galvanizer to perfect the design of these complex systems so they can be hot-dip galvanized. Anthony Lift Gates knows in that the truck and trailer industry, hot-dip galvanizing is the gold standard. Anthony Lift Gates has had a large impact on the HDG market in Illinois, galvanizing over 1,000,000 lbs of product annually.
