The architectural group on this project has had a history of hot-dip galvanizing exposed structural steel; however, none of their projects has been more visible than 1600 Broadway. Located in Times Square, the structure is highly visible. While visual appeal was important, the ease of specifying was one of the most appreciated features of the galvanizing process. With so many pieces in the 95-ton structure, checking the mil thicknesses of a painted structure would have been nearly impossible. The group will likely galvanize in future billboard and signage structure projects as a result of the durability and ease of the process.
