Located in front of the City of Port Moody Civic Center, the tidal train celebrates the story of Port Moody. The artwork completes the roundhouse design of City Hall and reveals the traffic circle surrounding it to be a railway turn table. As the locomotive rotates, it celebrates the legacy of the intercontinental railway and the arrival of the sky-train. Hot-dip galvanizing was chosen as the most cost effective coating system and easily blends into the natural surroundings of the forest throughout the City of Port Moody and City Hall. At night the train illuminates and is powered by solar panels attached directly to the sculpture.
