The remote location of mountain chairlifts require them to be maintenance free. Due to the fact that the columns were airlifted by helicopter for installation, it was necessary to have a coating that provided durable lasting protection from the weather.
Hot-dip galvanizing provided just that. The owner does not have to worry about maintenance of the coating regardless of snow or frigid temperature. The substantial investment of upgrading this lift required no budget for ongoing maintenance.
