A fast moving comet has hit Grand Island! The frame of the impressive Silver Comet Roller Coaster was constructed using 660 tons of galvanized steel. Galvanizing was specified because it would be capable of withstanding the rigors of the cold, humid environment in Grand Island, as well as the expected high volume of traffic by park patrons. The galvanizing process was determined to be faster (meeting the construction schedule) and more economical than a three-coat paint process.
