Over 50 years ago, Linn Enterprises entered the agriculture industry with a focus on creating employment opportunities in the rural town of Linn, KS by manufacturing portable panels and hog panels. As the company grew, they added new jobs and products including fencing, gates, livestock handling systems, feeders and more. In 2003, Dave and Linda Smerchek purchased the company and started Titan West, Inc. The new owners’ passion for agriculture coupled with their decades of manufacturing experience grew Titan West, Inc. into a national leader in livestock handling equipment.
Portable livestock handling equipment like the “O.K. Corral” manufactured by Titan West Inc. faces harsh conditions due to everyday contact with high-potassium soils, animal waste, and, in some regions, salty coastal air. It can also be exposed to road salts and vehicle exhaust when in transit. Although the system provides freedom due to its mobility, transport and set-up can be rough on equipment over time. Titan West was faced with this exact issue because its current method of wet-paint had its limitations. Any rub or scrape in transportation and the paint would deteriorate, causing long-term issues down the road.
In 2025, the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) approached Titan West through Scott Holmes with Morgan Livestock Equipment, their Texas dealer, and requested a fully hot-dip galvanized version of the system. Quickly into this discussion, both teams involved realized their goals aligned perfectly: Produce longer-lasting, more durable equipment.
The team connected with a local galvanizer early in the process to ensure they could achieve a high-quality product. Not only was the galvanizer able to provide a large kettle capacity, but they offered technical guidance and support throughout the process. Through this collaboration, Titan West’s drafting, engineering, and R&D teams redesigned the entire frame, gates, and panels based on the galvanizer’s input. This included hole placement along the material for proper venting and draining while allowing the structures to be dipped as large, single assemblies.
This choice to galvanize corrals moving forward will be game changing for the customer. They will save time and money in the maintenance process compared to paint with a product that will remain stronger for decades longer.
Introduced into their product line in 2005, the galvanized O.K. Corral is here to stay. Offering customers a premium option that meets the demands of any farm and ensures more reliable equipment, the corrals will benefit countless cattle operators and their day-to-day functions for generations to come.
