Lac-Beauport is a quiet suburb of the provincial capital Quebec City. The property in question is a beautiful ancestral home set on an expansive hillside property surrounded by boreal forest. The harsh Nordic climate here presents many challenges. The property owners decided to address several at once with one beautiful, durable and practical solution.
Hot-dip galvanizing and paint - the perfect union of subdued beauty, functional practicality and amazing durability!
The access to this home from the parking area requires climbing a grade. A flag stone path has served that purpose for decades but for many months of the year icing and deep snow can be a challenge. The owners decided it was time to decorate this pathway with a series of connected arbors as the path moved up several steps towards the house. The arbors could be covered in the winter season (about half the year in this climatic zone) thereby greatly reducing the buildup of snow and or ice on the flagstones.
The experienced fabricator knew all to well that such structures quickly corrode in this climate especially if de-icing chemicals are applied for safety, so he recommended hot-dip galvanizing to the owners to ensure a very long service life. The owners, on the other hand, had a specific muted color in mind, so they made the wise decision to use a duplex system.
Now installed, the beautiful structure meets the desired immediate goals of the owner by contributing to the idyllic beauty of the property for the non-winter season, providing shelter for the icy and snowy time of year all the while backed by the anti-corrosion foundation of hot-dip galvanizing. Duplex Systems - the perfect union of subdued beauty, functional practicality and amazing durability!
