Walking up to the Sarasota Yacht Club evokes visitors dreams of sailing away. The club was established over 100 years ago, in 1907, and has been a staple of the Sarasota community throughout its existence. The present facility was founded in 1940, and in 2002 the club initiated a major expansion and modernization including the clubhouse. In 2010, the club added the sail-like canopies on the rear of the building overlooking the harbor.
The galvanizing and paint of the duplex system will work synergistically to ward off the harsh Floridian climate.
The canopy supports were all hot-dip galvanized and then painted white to blend with the nautical theme. The galvanizing and paint of the duplex system will work synergistically to ward off the harsh Floridian climate. The galvanizing primer will prevent corrosion from spreading under the paint system, which is often seen on painted bare steel. The paint system will act as an additional barrier for the zinc coating in the harsh marine environment. Thanks to the aesthetically pleasing and durable duplex system, the Sarasota Yacht Club Canopy will remain beautiful and corrosion-free to welcome boats back to the marina well into the future.
