The Redfish Bay Boathouse is set on the historic Conn Brown Harbor, which is well known for spectacular fishing. Thousands of Redfish inhabit the flats in Aransas Pass, and catching redfish that can exceed thirty pounds is not uncommon. Despite its size, it contains some of the most famous and popular saltwater fishing areas on the Texas coast and is known as Saltwater Heaven.
The owners were looking to build a world-class facility that would have little to no maintenance, and also withstand the corrosive conditions of the coastal environment.
The Redfish Bay Boathouse offers its patrons plenty of activities and amenities, from the some of the coasts best fishing, boating, and beach adventures; to a full service marina and dry boat storage facility. When the owners of Redfish Bay Boathouse decided to build a dry boat storage facility for its customers, they relied upon the expertise and knowledge of Golden Giant Inc. to make their project a success. The owners were looking to build a world class facility that would have little to no maintenance, and also withstand the corrosive conditions of the coastal environment.
Golden Giant, knowing that painted steel would cause some ongoing maintenance issues, and having completed many successful projects using hot-dip galvanizing, knew that this was the solution for their project. Engineer Rodney Montgomery and Golden Giant Inc. decided to galvanize all 227 tons of structural components. They understood the superior corrosion protection and the life-cycle cost savings it would provide their customer, by having a corrosion system in place that would require little to no maintenance and last for approx. 75 years before first maintenance was required.
The cost savings from this project will also help to contribute to future additions that are planned at The Redfish Bay Boathouse and help transform it into a popular destination for many boaters and travelers. This galvanized storage facility will provide a corrosion free and secure environment for boaters, and The Redfish Bay and Boathouse will continue to provide good times for many families.
