United Sugars Corporation has a major distribution facility in Mason City, Iowa, which receives, and processes bulk granulated sugar via rail car. United Sugars Corporation contacted the fabricator, who specializes in truck/rail combination scale systems for industrial weighing operations that require continuous functionality. The scale allows both rail cars and trucks to be weighed on a single shared weighbridge, saving space and providing versatility. These scales are typically heavy-duty, pit-type systems built to withstand continuous use in demanding environments. The truck/rail combo scale system is an accurate way of measuring inbound and outbound deliveries to help with the bottom line, this is a cost saving system by using one scale.

The scale features a modular design and can be installed above ground or in a pit foundation, foundation anchor bolts and grout plates are included. Other options that set the fabricator apart are lightning protection packages, digital weight indicators, printers and data collection packages. The fabricator has been delivering accurate performance in tough environments for over 95 years. The fabricator and the galvanizer worked extremely closely in developing & galvanizing the scales with the proper design to maximize the longevity needed for this project based in Mason City, Iowa. The fabrication team came to the galvanizing plant at 6:00 am to watch their scales dipped in the zinc bath. Operations & Inside Sales coordinated with the fabrication team to assure the proper turnaround time needed for United Sugars Corporation to have their scales delivered and installed on time. The 400,000 lb., 70’ x 10’ Truck/Rail Combo Scale was a sweet success!!
