In the middle of bustling downtown Des Moines, the principal Financial Group Parking Ramp is located in an urban environment exposed to high traffic. The ramp is also subjected to the corrosive effects of salt and chloride exposure during the winter months. All these concerns led the fabricator to doubt the ability of paint to stand up to the corrosion, and led him to hot-dip galvanize all 210 tons of structural and ornamental steel, handrails, bollards, lintels, and angles to provide long-lasting protection against corrosion. Doing so means the ramp will remain structurally sound and rust-free for generations to come.
