The builders of the Populus Terminal 345KV Transmission Project were looking for a heavy duty corrosion protection system to protect the structure from daily wear and tear. To provide superior abrasion resistance and durable protection, hot-dip galvanized steel was specified for this 70,000 pound steel project. This extra large transmission pole was installed in Ogden, UT, and has many harsh winters ahead of it. Created during the galvanizing process, the sacrificial bond zinc has with the underlying steel is sure to provide this pole with outstanding protection for years to come. Since the pole is located in a residential area, a sleek and pleasing appearance was another important aspect of this project; the uniform, natural grey coating created by hot-dip galvanizing fills this need. The builders of this project have many years of experience working the HDG steel, and this project is just another to add to the long list of their successful galvanizing feats.
