"O! Dude slouches with ease while overlooking the city skyline from the Omaha Chamber of Commerce Courtyard. The towering sculpture, designed by Leslie Bruning, welcomes locals and visitors alike to the Historic Old Market area of Omaha. The sculpture is constructed out of a combination of hot-dip galvanized steel (arms, legs, torso) and aluminum, and then powder coated for visual appeal.
The duplex system of hot-dip galvanized steel and powder coating provides more advantages than just aesthetic appeal
The duplex system of hot-dip galvanized steel and powder coating provides more advantages than just aesthetic appeal, however. The hot-dip galvanized steel primer provides superior corrosion protection, and will prevent under-film corrosion if the powder coating is damaged or penetrated, while the top coat powder coating provides an additional barrier for the underlying zinc coating, isolating it from the environment. This synergistic relationship ensures O! Dude will continue to radiate casualness and familiarity capturing the friendly nature of the mid-western city for generations.
