The Lied Jungle, completed in 1992, is one of the largest indoor rainforests in the world, making it the main attraction at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. The jungle is a unique environment with hot, moist conditions and an average humidity between 70% and 85%.
HDG steel ensures maintenance-free performance.
Hot-dip galvanized steel was used in the building to provide a crucial long life cycle, as well as durable corrosion protection against the humid atmosphere. HDG steel ensures a maintenance-free performance, and since the jungle is open 363 days a year, visitors will be able to enjoy the attraction without having to worry about it being closed for repairs.
The design team also chose HDG steel because they felt it would blend in well with the exhibit itself and further enhance the experience for all future visitors. Using HDG steel, this project will stand safe and corrosion-free for the community to enjoy for decades.
