Located in the garden of a small upstate New York private college, the blooming steel flowers and tendrils of the Kirkland College Garden Arch are fittingly placed at the entry of a park-like green space. Because of the ornate and artistic nature of the garden arch, the piece needed to be smooth and clean for appearance and powder coating. The galvanizer took special care to ensure a superior finish was created.
Designed and built by a local art studio, the arch consists of 500 lbs of galvanized steel, and will be seen by all visitors to the college. Hot-dip galvanized steel will provide excellent protection from the elements, as the arch will be constantly exposed to sun, rain, wind, and snow throughout the year. Utilizing a duplex system of powder coating over paint will extend the maintenance-free life of the structure by 1.5 to 2 times, meaning the arch will continue to look attractive for minimal cost for years to come.
