All aspects of this half-ton (453 kg) staircase are hot-dip galvanized. The owner of this outstanding staircase decided to use hot-dip galvanizing for aesthetics, the cathodic and barrier protection that hot-dip galvanizing gives to steel, and the lack of maintenance and associated costs. The Staircase is in a residential neighborhood in a humid climate near the Gulf Coast. Because of its proximity to the water, the Individual Homesite Staircase will be exposed to various weather conditions associated with a humid environment. Hot-dip galvanizing will prevent the steel from corroding and preserve the Staircase for generations.
