Holy Spirit High School

Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey, is known for its strong academic foundation, spiritual development, and a proud tradition of athletic excellence. As the school continued enhancing its campus facilities, leadership sought a durable, visually striking feature to anchor the entry to its athletic complex. The result was the new Spartan Way archway- designed as a bold symbol of school pride and engineered to endure decades of use. Hot-dip galvanizing was selected to ensure long-term performance, superior corrosion protection, and a finish resilient enough to support the school’s legacy for generations.

To elevate the entrance of its athletic field, Holy Spirit High School partnered with the fabricator to design and construct a 21-foot-long structural steel archway weighing more than 1,000 pounds. Engineered as a signature focal point for players and spectators alike, the Spartan Way structure features bold geometry and prominent branding meant to reflect the competitive spirit of the Holy Spirit Spartans. The steel components were sent to the galvanizer for hot-dip galvanizing prior to receiving a painted topcoat. This duplex system was chosen to achieve the school’s desired aesthetics while simultaneously ensuring long-term corrosion protection in New Jersey’s coastal environment. Galvanizing provided a metallurgically bonded coating capable of withstanding year-round exposure, high-traffic athletic use, and the wear associated with game-day traditions as teams run beneath the archway. The Spartan Way entrance now serves as a durable, low-maintenance landmark that reinforces school identity and enhances the visitor experience. Its resilient galvanized foundation ensures the structure will remain a source of pride for students, athletes, alumni, and the community for decades- mirroring the enduring legacy of Holy Spirit High School itself.
