A modern urban park designed by the community, in Toronto, Ontario.
The longevity and minimal maintenance of an urban park with high traffic was crucial in their decision to choose a duplex coating.
Holmes Park - located at the southwest corner of Holmes Avenue and Doris Avenue, received an expansion by the city to further enhance the infrastructure and the amenities in the surrounding area. This recently transformed park is to continue to support the growing community of newly built condominiums in the area, which will ensure park accessibility and safety. With the continued help of the community, which started in 2020, all parties agreed upon the following features that this park will consist of; a play area, a water fountain and bottle filler, a shade structure with seating, bike racks, and an open lawn area. Only portions of the park have been opened to the public as of October 2023, but further expansions are continuing with a project timeline of completion for the fall of 2025.
In regards to the construction and design, sustainability was a main focus for the designer’s concept, consisting of a Duplex Coating System. The longevity and minimal maintenance of an urban park with high traffic was crucial in their decision. Also, it was essential to keep a focus on the aesthetics of the structure for the community living within the urban neighborhood.
