...discussing the benefits of hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) with Kalmar, such as lowest initial cost, durability, aesthetics, and sustainability...
One of the more recent innovative solutions, in response to customer feedback, was to manufacture a truck that could withstand harsh environments, such as, coastal, extreme heat, and cold conditions. As a result, Kalmar contacted the local galvanizer in an effort to provide durability and longevity for the truck frames and components. Over the past year, the galvanizer has galvanized approximately 30 truck frames with 2016 expected to triple in production. Kalmars engineering staff has worked closely with the galvanizer to solidify a galvanized product that meets the expectations of all parties with high-end quality.
In discussing the benefits of hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) with Kalmar, such as, lowest initial cost, durability, aesthetics, and sustainability, they were optimistic that the advantages of galvanizing major components of the spotting trucks would continue to grow throughout their customer base and offer expansion opportunities around the world. The galvanizer is encouraged by the demand for galvanizing truck components, along with the world-wide, indirect exposure for the industry. As an organization, we are proud to work with Kalmar and the opportunities that will be presented through our relationship.
Kansas City Metalworks was established in 2007 and founded by Asheer Akram, a local sculptor in Kansas City. KCM designs a variety of custom fabrication sculptures and works with architects, designers, landscape architects, builders, and contractors throughout the region. Asheer brings a hands-on approach to his craft and plays a significant role in the design and fabrication throughout all facets of a project. KCH&G (Kansas City Homes & Gardens) and Kansas City At Home, locally published magazines featuring unique interests of upscale homeowners, has featured Asheers steel-fabrication artistry work through local landscape architects designing one-of-a-kind outdoor lounges and living spaces for local residents. In addition, KCM was contracted to fabricate artistic sculptures and steel structures for a three-story project, which included commercial space and apartments, called the Stockyards Place, located in the historic West Bottoms Kansas City.
Also, Asheer and his team of architects were chosen to design a custom, galvanized slide and stair structure for Union Station Kansas City that is installed and on display in Science City, an interactive consortium for children of all ages. The local galvanizer is proud to support the arts and sciences, along with the local artists commissioned to fabricate and design steel or galvanized structures. Educating the public, fabricators, designers, and artists with respect to the benefits of galvanizing, along with the artistic capabilities of incorporating HDG throughout a project will continue to support the industry in a positive manner.
