This project used 100 percent galvanized parts, including the impact head, the ground strut and the foundation tube. Uniformity in coating was an important issue to the fabricator, since distribution of the guardrail is nationwide. These guardrail end terminals are designed to absorb kinetic energy of an impacting vehicle. It will safely decelerate an automobile at speeds up to 65 mph (105 kph) by splitting and redirecting the guardrail. The terminal is easily installed and can be reused after most impacts. It meets the approval of the Federal Highway Administration.
