The Florida Tri-rail Noise Barrier, along the mass transit rail system in Hollywood, Florida, was constructed after residential noise complaints reached a maximum in the community of Emerald Hills. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the city of Hollywood and residents of Emerald Hills turned to Sound-Fighter Systems to erect a noise abatement wall made of special sound absorbing panels that successfully relied on hot-dip galvanizing for years.
The sound absorbing panels are galvanized not only for corrosion protection, but also for effectiveness against graffiti, moisture, wind, and humidity.
The wall constructed by SFS is regarded as the most effective sound barrier available, and with HDGs superior performance over other products such as concrete, it is also the most durable. The sound absorbing panels are galvanized not only for corrosion protection, but also for effectiveness against graffiti, moisture, wind, and humidity. The galvanized coating has been tested and found to be highly effective. With the visual appearance of HDG, the wall will remain aesthetically pleasing -- an important factor, considering the 5000 commuters that pass the wall on a daily basis.
In addition to the qualities of HDG, the quick turnaround time the product provided was critical due to the need for residential access to erect the wall. In all, 100 tons of steel were galvanized, including all h-beams, channels, angles and various other structural materials supporting the system. By choosing HDG, the wall will be a long lasting and low maintenance solution that will last for generations to come.
