The archway at the front entrance of the cemetery has the medallions that represent each war the veterans fought in. Buried in the cemetery, are veterans from The Revolutionary War, The Civil War, The Spanish American War, and World War II. This project was in their honor.
These soldiers fought for our freedom. Anything we can do to repay, to honor and recognize them, that is what I want to do. ~community volunteer Bill Dawson
Honoring our Veterans. The Ebenezer M.E. Cemetery in Pleasant Twp., Galloway, OH is the final resting place for some of our veterans from several wars dating back to the Revolutionary War. This cemetery also holds veterans that served in the Civil War, Spanish-American War and WWII.
A group of volunteers, led by Bill Dawson had a goal to fund raise for an iron arch with the name of the cemetery and the representative war veteran medallions within the design. The restored entryway would also entail a new brick paver entry and landscape beautification. The group was able to raise money through goFundme and get local companies to donate their products, time and services to make this project happen.
The fabricated steel arch and reflection bench was hot-dip galvanized and powder coated as a donation to this group by the local galvanizer. The galvanizer also assisted with installation of of the five medallions and the assembly of the structure. The completion of the project ran concurrently with the observance of Memorial Day of this year.
