The Choctaw Casino Parking Garage was specially designed to increase the head tolerance from most garages by two feet, allowing an open air flow to help the garage feel less compartmentalized. The garage possesses a drain system that directs water away from the structure, reducing corrosion and erosion and increasing its life expectancy. This was the first galvanized garage the Choctaw Indians have erected, and because of the superior performance of HDG steel, they are now considering three more parking garage expansions at other locations, and may also build an additional two levels onto the current Durant Choctaw Parking Garage.
More than 600 tons of beams were galvanized...
Galvanizing the garage was the ideal choice for corrosion protection in that it provided the best coverage, unlike most paint applications which tend to chip and rust excessively. Life-cycle cost was also a factor is choosing to galvanize, since the customer wanted a structure that would stand the test of time and require little to no maintenance once in use. More than 600 tons of beams were galvanized for this project. The garage will be protected from corrosion and have increased life expectancy because of the durable, long-lasting corrosion protection provided by hot-dip galvanized steel.
