In the heart of Doylestown, Pennsylvania and a bustling urban landscape, vision met innovation. Urban Outfitters, the iconic brand known for its fusion for urban aesthetics and creativity, embarked on a venture that would blend their signature style with innovative functionality. The production of a hot-dip galvanized outdoor pavilion and bar.
With an understanding that the project would be in the elements everyday, members of the project knew that the steel components would be vulnerable to possible weathering. Only one solution could stand up to the challenge: Galvanizing.
As the project began, Creative Architectural faced a formidable adversary: corrosion. With an understanding that the project would be in the elements everyday, members of the project knew that the steel components would be vulnerable to possible weathering. Only one solution could stand up to the challenge: Galvanizing.
More than protecting steel, hot-dip galvanizing would preserve a vision. From the intricate pipe railings to the sturdy plates, channels and box tubes, each piece worked together seamlessly. Corrosion that would have eroded its integrity were kept at bay, ensuring its beauty and functionality remained untarnished for many years down the road.
As a center piece for the beautiful event space, the galvanized bar was meticulously designed, making it one-of-a-kind. The mesh frames were sourced from Great Britain, crossing the ocean to be united with this architectural masterpiece.
Throughout the course of the project, the teams involved encountered challenges that required communication and adaptability. Venting and draining were critical for the pavilion’s long-term well-being, but they also posed a design dilemma. The galvanizer was able to work alongside the customer and strategize a solution that would tie perfectly into the design elements and meet the customer’s needs. Size and handling of the small delicate pieces required the galvanizer to pay extra care to the project and communicate through the coating process.
The Creative Architecture bar and pavilion represent a beautiful pairing between functionality and design and the reflective play of light on the hot-dip galvanized surface will continue to allure the public for many years into the future because of hot-dip galvanizing.
