After researching pool kits from several manufacturers, it was found they were not built very well. As an example, the kits were made of 14 gauge steel with bracing every 6 feet and were extremely overpriced.
The weight of a prefab kit was only 1500 pounds, whereas this structure weights 6000 pounds.
With that in mind, the designer talked to his local blacksmith and realized he could create his own side walls from 12 gauge steel and considerable strength, while also bracing only every 4 feet. The weight of a prefab kit was only 1500 pounds, whereas this structure weights 6000 pounds. Because of the in ground contact and the possibility of moisture being trapped between the liner and the wall, the best choice was to have the panels galvanized. The galvanizer was recommended by a local contractor who uses them on a weekly basis and was very easy to work with. They had the ability to do what needed to be done.
