This high profile addition to the growing tourist destination of National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD. Just outside of Washington DC and Alexandria, VA, is located right on the Potomac River.
With year round operation and thousands of visitors expected to experience the views from high atop the Capital Wheel, the designers chose to use galvanized steel for all of the frame work supporting this unique attraction. Just over 180 tons of structural steel was fabricated and galvanized in record time in the dead of winter, then be barged down river before the harsh winter fully set in, allowing construction to be completed on schedule.
