All components of the California Department of Forestry Communications Tower are hot-dip galvanized. This includes all angles, grating, fasteners, pipe, channel, wide flange structurals, and formed flatbar. Hot-dip galvanizing was specified for this project for numberous reasons, one being that it had a lower initial cost than the competition's. Not only was it less expesive to begin with, but maintenance and repair costs over the life of the tower will also be limited. This is one of the many microwave towers that the state of California consolidated into one location.By doing this, the communication sites have less impact on the environment, delivering an ecological and economical solution for those that enjoy the forest.
