Because the unloading facility is located on the coast in a highly corrosive marine environment, hot-dip galvanized steel was the logical choice to provide a long life with little to no maintenance.
For this project, support towers, chip conveyors, galleries, portal frames, handrails, stairs, and grating were galvanized for protection from the elements and the moist, corrosive environment. The tough, durable, metallurgically bonded zinc coating has a DPN hardness of 2500 PSI, so it can stand strong against the inevitable nicks and scratches incurred at a unloading facility. Galvanized steel will keep this structure moving goods along, uninterrupted by necessary maintenance for decades.
