This dual, two-lane bridge is comprised of 11 galvanized reinforced steel, concrete decks, carrying both north- and south-bound traffic. Based on ILZRO's tests, the rebar remained corrosion-free after 28 years despite heavy traffic, climate changes and exposure to chloride-containing deicing salts. There are still 11+ mils of zinc on the rebar. Galvanized in 1973, inspected in 2001, and expected to last another 25 to 30 years before first maintenance.
