American Renewables Biomass Power Plant

Situated on a previously undeveloped pine bog, the designers were faced with a facility that would experience high moisture and extreme conditions. The biomass pile capacity under the stacker/reclaimer will be around 125,000 cubic yards. Transporting material from pile to boiler via the intricate conveyor systems is critical to the efficiency and reliable energy output of this power plant. The decision to utilize hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) gives the power plant owners many years of maintenance-free operation.

Timely turnaround to meet shipping and erection schedules were of paramount importance to this project. The HDG process was a perfect fit to avoid any expense related to delays in the field and added costs to the project. Wolf Material Handling Systems was faced with the task of delivering 11 galvanized conveyors, stacker and reclaimer to the site of the American Renewable Energy Woody Mass Power Plant in Gainesville, FL. The HDG advantage to maximize truss size and quick turnaround times was a key factor in meeting construction schedules.

Once operational, the Gainesville Biomass Plant will generate 100 MW electrical power for the surrounding communities from renewable and reclaimed wood sources.
