The city of New Orleans needed help providing the cruise ship industry access to its port during high water periods. Local power company, Entergy, stepped in and redesigned its lattice towers to increase the clearance of electrical lines that cross the mighty Mississippi River.

With a proven performance history in this heavy industrial and marine environment, hot-dip galvanized support arms were specified by the engineering firm of Commonwealth Associates to not only provide a durable corrosion protection system, but to match the patina of existing towers. With installation taking place over 400 feet above the water, it was imperative that the overall design of the support arms provide for a tough coating, one to withstand rough treatment during attachment to the existing lattice tower, as well as the rigors of the corrosive Mississippi River environment. The spectacular results of this collaborative effort will ensure the safe passage of ships for generations to come.
