Used to teach plant personnel about proper inspection techniques. The course examines the steps of the inspection process as well as what is acceptable and rejectable according to the ASTM specifications. The course also includes more detailed information on the galvanizing process, galvanizing standards, types of inspection, and repair.

This training was created to educate new plant employees joining the industry, as well as experienced workers who want to review the specific steps in the galvanizing process. The course material is appropriate from General Managers to racking and clean-up workers. The course consists of four separate modules that explore different sections of the total galvanizing process. Successful completion and passing of the online test qualifies an individual for recognition as a Master Galvanizer. This is a virtual adaption to the in-person Master Galvanizer Seminars given in Spanish and English.

Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS) for the Galvanizer

Learn about misconceptions around the HDG coating appearance and establish reasonable expectations for AESS specified products. The course will cover:
- The best practices and procedures to obtain the desired aesthetic characteristics specified for AESS projects.
- How to navigate the AESS project bidding process differently than “regular” ASTM A123 projects to bridge common communication gaps and avoid cost overruns.
- How to identify topics to discuss in a pre-bid or pre-job meeting with the customer and other decision-making representatives to align expectations and ensure project success.
Processes in the Galvanizing Plant
This video series details successful HDG processes and procedures and describes the entire process of taking bare steel and coating it with zinc. The video is divided into five modules that can be viewed independently: Inspection, Material Handling, Surface Preparation, Galvanizing and Kettle, and Post-Galvanizing Treatments.
Processing & Maintenance Safety
This video was developed specifically to review the hot-dip galvanizing process and present potential hazards to increase awareness and prevent occupational hazards within the hot-dip galvanizing facility. The processing safety video aids the viewer in understanding the proper safety techniques to use throughout the hot-dip galvanizing process, such as discussion on the appropriate personal protective equipment and safety procedures.
This video was developed specifically to review the hot-dip galvanizing process and present potential hazards to increase awareness and prevent occupational hazards within the hot-dip galvanizing facility. The maintenance safety video gives an overview of specific safety issues in a hot-dip galvanizing facility. The issues highlighted are chemical maintenance, confined spaces, lockout/tagout procedures, kettle maintenance, and housekeeping.
HDG Repair Video Series (2017)
These six short videos detail the specifications and methods used to touch-up and repair hot-dip galvanized steel. The videos provide highly beneficial visual aids to those needing assistance with touch-up and repair, whether in the plant or the field. Topics include proper materials to use while performing the process, as well as specifications to follow and proper application of the repair materials.
HDG Appearance Video Series (2021)
This video series features the differences in appearance of hot-dip galvanized steel. The videos cover fabrication, coating appearance, the impact of steel chemistry, cooling rates, different welding techniques, post-galvanizing concerns and more. The goal of this video series is to help members, specifiers and inspectors understand what aspects impact the appearance of HDG steel and how to deal with certain appearance issues and concerns.
The series follows samples throughout fabrication and hot-dip galvanizing process to show causes for differences in appearance. This will give clear distinction to the many factors that impact the appearance of hot-dip galvanized steel are outside the galvanizer's control. This series will touch on following the best practices for steel selection and fabrication techniques which yield the best opportunities to optimize hot-dip galvanizing appearance.

This AGA program is designed to address the required safety and environmental topics with the generic content provided and the facility specific content provided by the trainer. The suggested use of this material is up to your facility. Safety meetings can be a weekly meeting of 10-15 minutes per topic that can extend longer with questions and answers, quizzes, or hands on activities/drills. You can also combine several topics to have a longer once a month meeting.
