BASF
In the Midwest there is a long-term relationship with BASF and hot-dip galvanizing. This is the latest project in Elyria, Ohio. BASF a typical Petro-Chemical application exposed to the elements and different environmentally clean waste material combined. Elyria, Ohio will receive the cold winter weather coming off of Lake Erie, and the humidity in the Ohio summers. Galvanizing was chosen due to its resilience and success at other facilities.
This was a high-visibility project for BASF. They are using the plant as a training and customer center. Over 750 tons of material was fabricated, galvanized, and delivered in what BASF referred to as record time. "Our own paint and painters could not have achieved what we received with hot-dip galvanizing," was heard from one of the project managers. Galvanizing was originally considered for the economics, and now is used for the necessity.
