L.S. Skaggs Animal Health Center

The L.S. Skaggs Animal Health Center is a $3 million, 7,200 square foot, state-of-the-art facility located at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, UT. The center was a collaborative effort to create a sustainable development to coincide with the Zoo’s commitment to conservation and animal welfare. Hot-dip galvanized steel was the ideal choice for corrosion protection, as it makes use of 100% natural, recyclable zinc to create a durable, protective coating that will require little or no maintenance. The lack of required maintenance means no extra energy or materials will be expended on upkeep. It also helped put the Animal Health Center on track for LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Due to the longevity of HDG steel, the animal enclosures at the Animal Health Center will provide maintenance-free corrosion protection for decades to come.
