BP Building

Due to the fact the structure was directly over the water in Lake Michigan, it was imperative the steel be maintenance-free for many years. Also, the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from any paint system would not be acceptable in the lake environment.

There were two main sections that were 13’ x 48’ x 15” and weighed 16,000# each. Consulting with the galvanizer regarding proper welding and venting procedures prior to the fabrication was essential to the project being a success.
