Articulating Saw

Upon completing the fabrication of the off shore drilling rig saw the owner asked "What can we do to minimize corrosion?" The only answer for this saw that is used under the salt water of the Gulf of Mexico was hot-dip galvanizing (HDG). The fabricator and designers called on the galvanizer to provide information on corrosion protection, specifications and venting recommendations. Without any prior experience the customers were impressed with the initail support, quality and quick turnaround. They also commented on the impressive appearance of the galvanizing surface. The competitive price of galvanizing compared to paint, the expected maintenance-free life and resulting life-cycle costs made HDG the perfect choice.

These saws weigh 5.6 ton each and potential will depend on sales but all will be galvanized. The vent holes in the steel add the unintended benefit of helping the unit sink in the ocean more easily. Venting after fabricating insured safety at the hdg plant and complete coverage inside and out.
