The Galvanize the Future: An Edgar K. Schutz Scholarship essay contest was developed to help future specifiers with the rising cost of a college education. The scholarship aims to teach these specifiers a little about hot-dip galvanizing while providing them with funding for their education.

The scholarship is available to full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university in North America, during the 2008-2009 school year. Qualifying majors include: architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management, material science, or a related field.
